Is there a way for me to password protect my external usb hard drive?
I have the western digital passport-and i have some realy crucial information that i cant afford
to just leave open.

I am looking for a mac solution. I did a google search before i decided to ask here
and all i find is programs for windows. I have paralells installed but i wanted to know if its possible to do it within mac.

Would a password stop someone simply plugging the drive into another machine and accessing it that way?

If its highly sensitive then maybe encryption is the way to go?

You could use use disk utility to create and encrypted disk image on your external and store everything in that. It might take a while to mount but...

I second the suggestion to create an encrypted disk image.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
