...birds go flying at the speed of sound

you'll understand...

wtf is this song about?
_,.
a solitary firefly flies at nite
into the darkness an endless flight
a million flashes of delight.

Coldplay's "Speed of Sound":

how long before I get in
before it starts, before I begin
how long before you decide
before I know what it feels like
where to?
Where do I go?
if you've never tried then you'll never know
how long do I have to climb
up on the side of this mountain of mine

look up, I look up at night
planets are moving at the speed of light
climb up, up in the trees
every chance that you get
is a chance you seize
how long am I gonna can stand
with my head stuck under the sand
I start before I can stop
before I see thing the right way up

all that noise, all that sound
all those places that i have found
and birds go flying at the speed of sound
to show how it all began
birds came flying from the underground
if you could see it then you'd understand

ideas that you'll never find
or the inventors could never design
the buildings that you put up
Japan and China... all lit up
the sign that I couldn't read
or the light that I couldn't see
some things you have to believe
but others are puzzles, puzzling me

all that noise, all that sound
all those places that i have found
and birds go flying at the speed of sound
to show how it all began
birds came flying from the underground
if you could see it then you'd understand

all those signs I knew what they meant
something you can't invent
Some get made, and some get sent
ooh
words go flying at the speed of sound
to show how it all began
birds came flying from the underground
if you could see it then you'd understand
oh, when you see it then you'll understand
I have no clue.

Chris Martin is into that Zen Buddhism so it's about peace of mind, clarity, destiny, signs, etc. This song kind of follows up where The Scientist left off.

Sorry I'm showing up late to the nut show. Here ya go:

"Everything's so clear to me now: I'm the keeper of the cheese and you're the lemon merchant. Get it? And he knows it.
That's why he's gonna kill us. So we got to beat it. Yeah. Before he let's loose the marmosets on us."

My hat's off to anyone who can glean even the slightest meaning from his gibberish. Or did you read an interview, or something?

Having just seen the biggest selling artists on channel 4 i can re-affirm this.

Yellow, the song that made Coldplay is named after the Yellow Pages because he happened to glance on it, needing a two syllable word while singing in the style of Neil Young.

It doesn't bother me because I just recorded a guitar and vocal track on my digital 8 track after watching No Direction Home. If you are going to take inspiration, take it from Bob or Neil, or the Yellow Pages.

The Coldplay song...

It's about getting off your ass and doing something. He's basically saying grab life by the horns, find out where you fit, 'coz time and tide wait for no man.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.
That's where there's thunder... and the wind shouts back.

No, he's singing about robotic birds taking over the world.
