According to MacSoft's web site UT 2004 requires a G4/933 or better processor. However they also list that some maps and game types are playable on a G4/800 or better processor.

Those of you who have UT 2004 (like you're actually taking time out of game play to read this) is there any information included telling you what maps and what game types are okay for a G4/800? Anyone actually playing it with a G4/800?

Thanks. I'd like to know whether it is worth my buying since I only have a G4 iBook.

The manual says, for 800MHz processors, to stick to online play (no bots), where most game types will be OK, and most maps will be quite playable.

Or offline, a couple of the 1-on-1 deathmatch maps are OK.

So in other words online game play is fine, it is the single player stuff that will be a no go.

That works for me since I've never been a fan of single player game itself. However I do love a good practice session with bots in the original UT so I'll probably miss that. It is interesting that it is the bot AI, and not things like the graphics or map details, that'll overload the processor.

I'm hoping my dual 867 w/ Radeon 8500 will play at least as good as a single 933 G4, since there are some MP optimizations in UT 2004 (I think sound and some network stuff is offloaded to the second CPU).
