Simple one this - did the OSX 10.4.7 update give you problems or not?
Haven't installed it myself yet...coz have heard quite a few horror stories...and my MBP with 10.4.6 is running perfectly smoothly, so if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Because it contains security fixes.
Remember that for each horror story you hear there are hundred thousands of updates that went fine you don't hear about.

Caused some funny crashes a few nights ago, but everything is peachy-keen now. Hopefully it was just a fluke...

Works fine, but didn't fix any weird icon positions. All files that I download and/or expand end up in a pile in the lower right corner. I just run the clean-up-desktop command, but then I have to hunt and peck for the file.

4 computers updated... no problems. I did notice a LONG update on my iBook... If I was new to the platform... I may have thought it had crashed.

Like 10.4.6 and 10.4.5 this update did nothing. For better or worse.

So far the poll results seem normal for OSX updates.

It's the same with every update, there are always some people that have problems, most don't. Make a backup before you do it any you shouldn't have to worry.

Introduced a new problem for me. On my G4 PowerMac the USB 2.0 card now works only until I put the computer to sleep. After that it might as well not be there. Completely dead.
Otherwise no problems. I just can't sleep the computer if I want to plug in my scanner or my iPod.

Sounds like it could be a corrupted .DS_Store on the Desktop. Did you try deleting it? You'd have to use the Terminal because the file's invisible, but:
cd ~/Desktop
rm .DS_Store

Everything OK for me on TiPB 867 1GB RAM. I did not repair permissions before or after using the combo update but I did install the update whilst booted in Safe Mode [I always do it that way]. Clone Backup before updating. 10.4.7 does seem faster but that may be an illusion

I use my Mac mostly for my graphics work, and also to check my emails and do some light surfing...don't really do anythiing that would be high risk, so any security fixes of 10.4.7 wouldn't be needed urgently in my case imo...i will eventually install it, but am in no hurry right now....will probably be safer by the time i do update as apple should have ironed out any problems the update has by then (it has had one revision already I've heard)...

Installed OS 10.4.7 today. No issues until I tried to open Classic applications. Never had the problem before. Oh well.

What issues did you encounter when you tried to open Classic applications? What problem did you never have before?

Same problems with my PowerMac G5 1.8GHz. I need a new USB 2.0 card now. The system will go to sleep but it won't wake up fully. At first it would wake up to a desktop that was all screwed up and locked up. Now, it wakes but the screen is blank. The card is the culprit.
I am also loosing connectivity to my router. I don't know if this is just a coincidence or from the update.

Issues encountered:
- Unresponsive Safari window when switching back to it sometimes.
- Loads of apps suddenly becoming unresponsive and won't respond to a force quit. Seems to be related to my crappy Lexmark X1170 printer.

Yeah, how hard is it to figure out that merely appending "Poll:" to your thread title doesn't make it a poll?

Question is how do we find out which cards will actually work with each PowerMac? My card is from Belkin and is supposed to be supported. It has always had problems with sleep. Other users seem to have no problems with the same cards.
It seems that each card has multiple versions, some of which work properly with some PowerMacs. Even sites such as xlr8yourmac seem unable to give clear advice because of the large number of possible combinations.
The card I have was on the list Apple used to publish on their iPod pages. I hoped this meant full support but this has never been the case.
Any advice on a USB 2.0 card for a dual 1.25 MDD G4 PowerMac would be gratefully received.

The update made my safari slow, but I switched it with the 10.4.6 version. On the plus side, my PowerBook boots up a lot faster, from about a minute to around half a minute.

I updated 2 Macs (G3 iMac 600 Mhz Graphite & MDD PowerMac G4 Dual 867Mhz) to
Mac OSX 10.4.7 without any problems. Both systems are running fine. I have yet to update my brother's iBook G4 (it's still running Mac OSX 10.4.6) because he's actively using it for school. I don't want to jeopardize his homework and data and waste time to reinstall if a problem arises. When the Summer Quarter ends and his use of his iBook is less urgent, I will update the iBook as well.

Yep - when I wake my computer from sleep will either "hang" the machine or KP depending on how it feels at that given moment.
I know it's my USB2 card - but it was working fine before the update. I spent a good 2 weeks trying to find a fully sleep compatible card, now I am living without sleep. Dear Apple, please apple fix the usb/pci sleep issues!

The only problems I had were the usual "Can't use certain apps until they are updated for the new version". i.e. Pithhelmet and Transparent Dock. Which are both updated now. So all is good.

I had major problems. First system totally ignored my USB2 powered Hub, fixed by resetting PRAM , 3 "tone" way.
Today I had to unplug quad Mac 2 times because UI had "spinning wheel of doom" or something, simply there is no way to force quit or access any GUI way of shut down.
Perhaps I could fix if this machine wasn't single and I could SSH into it.
Keep journaling ON people.

You shouldn't have to unplug your Mac. Simply hold down the Power button for 5 seconds or so and it will shut down. I dunno if this is actually safer than unplugging but, it seems easier for me.

Scrolling with the keyboard arrow keys is really messed up with my old G4 dual in Safari. However, I don't think it is a bug, but a ' feature '.
