In order to avoid possible legal action, let's just say that I tried, for the first time, a product that bills itself as an aide to ground beef. The smell, the taste, the texture...it should be outlawed by the Geneva Convention.

I didn't expect haute cuisine. I figured that millions of Americans couldn't be wrong, right? Wrong! If this is any indicator of Middle America's diet, it's a wonder more of us aren't dropping in our tracks.

I'm currently writing this eating a grilled cheese sandwich and a Weinhard's Root Beer.

Live and learn. Back to simple foods.

weinhards root beer.

oh how i pine for the west coast now that you say that. *sigh.

the cream soda of the same brand is almost more heavenly. the first time i had the weinhards cream soda was in portland oregon. i walked out of the store, took a single drink, and went back in to purchase a second bottle cause i knew i wanted more.

Right on! I have, right now, a six pack apiece of the root beer, the creme soda, and the orange creme soda. The stuff rocks!

Still trying to wash the taste out of my mouth from my one-and-only bite of my abortive attempt at helping hamburger LOL!

I just finished some Taco Bell gorditas, fries and gravy, with a Pepsi. For lunch, I had some Pizza Pops and 3 bagels. In case you couldn't tell, I'm not much of a cook. :o

I've been the victim of similar, near-fatal dining episodes in the past, too. That's why I always keep a couple of boxes of frozen White Castle cheesburgers in my freezer.

TV dinners are the way to go. You just can't go wrong. Well, most of the time...

This weekend's food was perfect...

* Red Lobster for Friday dinner.
* Mexican for Saturday lunch (seafood taco... I like seafood )
* Red Lobster doggie-bag for Saturday dinner (it wasn't a date or anything, so heck yes am I gonna take a box!)
* Sunday lunch, homemade dumplings
* Sunday dinner, homemade pizza, *the* best pizza on Earth, better than any order-out pizza, ever

it's all about morningstar farms, but there's no reason to eat em when there's real food around! As for Hamburger Helper, I grew up on the stuff, it's not half bad, all told.

Hey, I've done the snake soup thing once or twice before. You're right -- chickenesque. I wasn't thrilled at the thought of it, particularly as I was forced to choose which snake I'd be eating, but I was mentally prepared for the whole experience.

The snake head in a cottage pie thing is a different matter altogether. One minute you're deciding whether to go for a pea or carrot, next you're trying to figure out if the rest of the snake is in the packet or in your gut...

Hamburger Helper seems pretty simple to me. It can actually be pretty good if prepared right. Sometimes you have to improvise a bit for taste.

WTF is happening here?

How can you eat this, this, for the sake of argument lets call it "stuff". Yes, stuff is probably as good as it gets. Because "food' it isn't. Yeach.

"Hamburger Helper", yes, I am sure. Somebody should help this stuff out of it's misery. Honestly. What's wrong with you people? You are what you eat, etc. etc, rant, rant, rave.

Anyway, gotta go and make myself a toasted focacia and goats cheese sandwich now. With some homegrown lettuce.

Send it to me! Send it to me! As long as it's actual burger, not one of their attempts at something else, it's fine by me... I just slather it with relish and mustard. And bread, sometimes.

I'm getting hungry now!

Boca burgs are okay....for a Kraft Product (which is why they are in mostly every supermarket now, even in hardcore rancher's country.) However, I prefer the Amy's brand.

You guys are making me hungry! Some background on my original cri de couer. I have a personal chef that cooks my dinners for a month; when she's done, I have a freezer full of great dinners (at a very reasonable cost, and she does the grocery shopping, too). I would recommend the service if you can't or don't like to cook. The price is reasonable, and the food excellent.

However, she cooks 24 meals for me--that allows me to go out to dinner for 7 days in a month; not unreasonable. Anyway, I was out of my real food, and thought I'd whip up something easy and tasty. Well, the HH was easy, but not tasty, and I don't know that I could have doctored it enough to make it acceptable. Other varieties than the one 1 bought may have been salvageable.

After one bite, the rest went down the garbage disposal unit. I would have been better off just cooking hamburger patties. LOL! So much for my rare attempt at domestic bliss...

Thank God my chef comes on the ninth...until then, omelettes and other such fare.

Yeah yeah, I went to an English restaurant once. They opened a tin of baked beans, a box of fish fingers and couple of slices of that thing called bread which they made toast out of.

But honestly, when I was young I thought fish and chips was English cuisine but then I realized the best chippies were owned by Greeks and Turks.
