Whats New in iCal 1.5.2
iCal 1.5.2 is easier and faster to use with its detachable Info Drawer, To Do alarms and notes, more keyboard shortcuts, ability to publish or subscribe to calendars on servers located behind a firewall, improved alarms, support for events in multiple time zones, as well as other stability and performance improvements.

I still do not get any alarms when iCal is not open. Same as always. I know others have had the same problem. Was there ever a solution found?

True, but when you close the drawer it does not revert the window to its original size. Fix that one little behavior and I will have no more complaints with iCal.

Some nice new additions, especially the detachable info window. I suspect that with the upcoming MS Office update on the way that Apple will be coming out with more regular updates to their core mail, address book and calendar programs. Getting better and better.

Thank God! That drawer was annoying.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I too have had the alarm problem. Not sure if it's supposed to work that way or if it's just a glitch or something. I haven't tried 1.5.2 yet. Hopefully it helps.

How do you detach the info-drawer?
I'm Appleless and unhappy: tiBook is dead and iPod stolen

Have the drawer visible (press the info button), then "Detach info" from the Window menu.

"Attach info" (again, while visible) turns the palette back into a drawer.

Rather nice. I wouldn't mind seeing this become a feature across the OS...

thanks, is there a shortcut for this to do it directly from a certain event?

Don't see the use for this yet, but I'm glad you guys are happy with it

People who are horizontal-screen-space challenged may find it quite useful.

On my Mac at work, I only have a 17" LCD (1280x1024). With the calendar open to a nice large size (I prefer Month view), the drawer would extend off the display. To see it, I'd have to move the window way off to the side or use a smaller calendar (which I don't want).
The floating palette is much more convenient in this setting.
On my Mac at home, I don't have the same issue thanks to my horizontally-ample 22" Cinema Display.

The alarm options are improved but maybe it should be easier to choose a different sound for the alarm. You could probably get a similar effect using open file.
I really like the effect they are using on the new pane opening when you choose Custom in the repeat menu.
Nothing to see, move along.
