For once it's actually true Forgot to hit a checkbox before building AIUtilities.framework. Shouldn't slow it down much/any though; just takes up a bit more disk space.

Its an excellent MSN client because its the only one that works through my proxy since the official broke its support and Proteus just stopped working one day.

I take that back this version has broken proxy support for me. Time to piss about with it

Good news for IM clients on the Mac. I think I can wait until it is 1.0 though before plunging in

I can never resist a fancy beta... and this one is quite a gem. I like the updated UI quite a bit. I still need to try direct connecting in AIM/connecting at all through Jabber, but everything else is good for me.

Now, if only it supported audio/video chat...

I already had one crash on me while I was at lunch. I just has an away message up so I am not sure what caused it. thats to be expected though with a beta.

The interface is really nice though. looking good.

Love that direct connect works now! I wasn't happy when it flipped on some weird Growl options I didn't have enabled but oh well.

1.0 allows you to change your nick in the contact list window now. It actually is starting to look more and more MSNesque.

All I want is audio/video, and it would be perfect, still having to use aMSN for that

Mine crashed and won't launch anymore. I haven't tried logging out, rebooting, or trashing prefs yet, but for now it's back to iChat.

I like the new (?) slide out on edges of the screen, but it doesn't seem to work with the bottom of the screen. I keep my dock on the right hand of the screen and the contact list next to it. When it slides in, it goes under my dock from the right instead of sliding up from the bottom of the screen.

You have to use the "Standard Window" option to get to the nickname in the buddylist. It also include a contact icon picker, among other things.

Not a critique in any way, but I am wondering - how can Adium be only a 1.0 product after all these years? I'm pretty sure a friend had me try Adium back when OS X 10.0 was fresh.

They've changed versioning systems at least once. I think that was when they switched to the libgaim base instead of whatever homebrewed solution they were using before.

They were approaching v2, then they decided that v1 was the new v2.

No it's not crappy, you can access and change your beloved MSN display name from the Contact List toolbar. Now your spell checker software is crappy

I thought they were dropping libgaim in favour of joscar? Nice update though, some decent new features.

Adium 1.0 drops libgaim in favor of joscar for AIM/ICQ/.Mac alone, the rest of the gang still uses libgaim (MSN, Yahoo, long etc).

In a way v1.0 was the AIM-only Adium...then Adam Iser decided to revamp the whole app and open-source it. Branded Adium X, the multi-protocol Adium was in a sense v2.0 but with the rebranding, it just made sense to start the versioning back at 0.x-1.0.
