Hi ... ... ...

i am having trouble viewing other languages on the website such as chinese characters and japanese characters.

What are the settings i need to make or installation i need to do to enable me to view the chinese characters ?

my system is OS 9.0.4 with I.E 5

You need to reinstall OS9. Do a custom install, and pick the language kits, and install whatever language kits you want... cyrillic, chinese, or whatever it is you want.
Need more info, just ask.

Well ... as you mentioned ... i really need more information....
as i am a totally new machintosh user ... i have no idea how to go about do it...

Is it possible that u give a step-by-step procedure on how to re-install and the steps i have to take to enable me to view chinese characters.

by the way ... i have tried to do it myself using the install CD but ...
i am still stuck at square one because i do not have even the basics of using a machintosh...

Put in the system software CD,
launch the System Software installer
Follow the screens (click OK at the license, readme, etc.)
When you get to the install screen, look for a popup menu that lets you choose Easy Install or Custom Install. Choose Custom Install.
Look for the language kits in the list - check them. Uncheck everything else.
Click Install.

That should be it.

thanks hayesk ... after following uR instructions ...
i am able to chinese character on the wrbsite ...

however after the installation ... another icon with the picture of the flags appeared on the top right hand side of the screen ... beside the clock ....

what are the icons used for ?
and when i click onto the chinese icon ... besides enabling me to read ... does it allow me to type the chinese characters ?
how do i go bout it ?
