1.35 GB is a whole lot of "Other" -- any idea what that might be?

I know it's not anything I've put on my iPod in disk mode, as I just bought this iPod and this is the first time I've synced it.

Hmm IIRC album artwork is "kept" in the music file itself and not in a separate database.

Yeah, probably OS. And games (I downloaded three for a grand total of 66MB). I guess it's just Apple's way of not really explaining where all the space went.

99% of the people out there using iPod's wouldn't understand it. I am amazed they put that little graphic showing what is taking space on the iPod's HD.

I'll bet Apple Support is not having a good week explaining to people what is what.

What's really interesting is that as more and more music was synced, the larger the Other slice got. It started as just a few MB. This indicates possibly library files, playlist info, etc.

Library files and playlists are just XML files. They don't take up that much space on your computer, so I highly doubt they take up that much space on an iPod, unless we're talking thousands of playlists here.
