During today's Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner called this year the company's "biggest innovation year ever" and teased new releases from the Seattle-based company. At the end of his remarks, Turner displayed a slide showing major releases from nearly every aspect of the company -- including Office, some Surface revisions, and a host of Skype improvements.

The slide from the presentation points out new accessories and accessory colors for Microsoft's much-maligned Surface tablet. Other updates are mentioned to both Surface RT and Surface tablets, but no specific mention of what will be upgraded has been mentioned. A logical upgrade to the line would include a boost to the Haswell Intel Core fourth-generation processor, which would provide better graphics processing, as well as extending battery life. It could also be a reference to the Windows 8.1 update, which will reach all Windows 8 devices in the next few months.

Skype was listed as adding support for enterprise voice, as well as better integration with Outlook. "Cloud calling" is named, with little additional data provided, as well as Office 365 integration for the video conferencing tool.

At the end of the remarks, Turner claimed that Microsoft will have a total of 101 Microsoft stores by the end of fiscal year 2014. None of the Microsoft "innovations" listed on the slide for release this year have any dates associated with them for release or more information.

That's not setting the bar very high for Microsoft. It isn't hard to beat a record of "0"; they could do that by having a single innovation.
