Smartphone manufacturer
Vertu has
signed a five-year exclusive partnership with luxury car manufacturer Bentley. The partnership will see the companies work together on a line of five "Vertu for Bentley" phones, with the devices set to include handset designs worked on by engineers from both companies, and provide Bentley-related services to phone owners via a pre-installed dedicated Bentley app.
The first of the five Vertu for Bentley devices is being planned for launch in October, followed by four "distinctive luxury smartphones" over the partnership period, with each said to "encompass authentic and iconic Bentley design elements and luxury lifestyle services." While exact details of these services were not advised, this could include Bentley maintenance support and, like the
Vertu Ti or the more recent
Vertu Signature Touch, some form of concierge service. The phone itself is likely to use premium materials such as titanium, sapphire glass to protect the display, and leather.

Neither company hinted at how much the first device will cost when it goes on sale, but thanks to the connection with Bentley, it is likely to be higher than the $11,000 price tag attached to some of Vertu's existing devices.
This is not the first time Vertu has been involved with car manufacturers. Previously, it worked with
Ferrari on a series of unique high-priced devices clad in titanium and stitched leather from Ferrari's tanneries.
