When the panel comes up, navigate to:

System - Library - CoreServices - Finder.app

Hope that helps,
Oliver

Unsanity would appear to have given up. They posted an alpha release back in Nov. or Dec. but now word at all since then.

Maybe they'll roll it in to Shape Shifter one of these days?

Yeah, but it's a mess.

Hi all,
I've been ignoring appearance altering apps since the days of 8.6 and Kaleidoscope or so, and now I wanted to see what this demetalifizer thing could do, but I can't find any instructions. How in holy hell do I use this thing?

Why can't Apple just fix the finder and get rid of metal. This really is ridiculous - not only the fact that it is metal, but also all that extra space it uses up with edges. And the inconsistency.

Here's something I wrote up on the subject a while back:

What about using Shapeshifter and a nice theme? There are several very well done themes that get rid of the metal, yet still keep the Aqua look and feel.

If you want an Aqua Finder for Panther, looks like PathFinder is your best bet.

Uncle Skeleton:

you need Application Enhancer, found here ( can't remember where this installs)

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15894

and Metallifizer 1.3a1, found here (this goes in your ~/Library/Application Enhancers)

http://www.unsanity.org/archives/2003_10.php

control via system prefs

hmm, thanks. Actually the critical piece of information that I've since found elsewhere is you put the downloaded .ape file in /Library/Application Enhancers. How I was supposed to know that without asking random people all over the internet is still beyond me, as neither download came with so much as a readme. Also, after installing this thing it still doesn't seem to do anything to make Finder aqua. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? or does this still not work on Finder in which case where did that screenshot up there come from?
