Here's my predicament -
I have an early 2008 Mac Pro 8-Core 3.2Ghz
8800GT Card
TWO UltraSharp 2408WFP Dell 24" monitors

I'd like to upgrade to the new Mac ATI 4870 -click here But I noticed the MINI display port on the back, which replaces the second DVI port. Both of my monitors have DVI cables, and run at 1920x1200

I'd like to keep my two dell monitors and be able to use the 4870 in my mac pro. But is this possible? Could I get THIS to fix it? - click here
I'm wondering if that would fix my little problem, but I'm not sure if a 24" Dell monitor at 1920x1200 would be able to be driven through an adapter like that, or if there would be a compatibility issue of running a mini display signal (apple) through a DELL monitor.

Advice would be great!, Thanks!

That's right. Get the MDP->DVI adapter and you'll be fine. That resolution is no problem for the GPU, the MDP, or the adapter.

Yes it does.

NOT NOISY
The Radeon 4870, unlike the 3870, does not rev up when stressed. Other than the initial whoosh when Starting Up or Re-Starting, it was quite subdued with a low rpm, low frequency fan. I repeat, it's nothing like the 3870 in terms of noise. It is as quiet as the GeForce 8800 GT. With decibel meter 6 inches from the heatsink fan, we never saw higher than 44 decibels even under a load.

My 8800 runs pretty darn loud when I play games in windows or osx. It's like it's about to take flight.

Yes.

OP, have you looked at flashing a PC 4870? Those have dual DVI ports.
