I'm taking my boy to the lake today. My girls are in the Mts. with their grandparents, and I miss them.

This could be the perfect time to have that "little talk" with you boy -- explaining why men go to the lake while the girls go to the mountains.
... oh, and let him try some chewing tobacco.

Aha .... hmmmm. Then maybe this is the time to have that "little talk" with the wife explaining what guys like for Father's Day when all the kids who are old enough to be offended/shocked are off in the mountains.
Keep the chewing tobacco around as a backup, though

Enjoy your kids, they love you.

My family will be taking me out to eat, wherever I'd like to go. I'd really love to go get sushi, buy my daughter's not too keen on that. However, she does like Thai food, and I can live with that.

My first fathers day without my Dad...
Hope he's looking down on me from wherever he is... A day doesn't go by without me missing him, he really was the best.

Sorry to hear that you guys...
My Dad's f-ed off to play in a Croquet tournament all weekend, so I've not really seen him which is a shame. Plus I'm off to London again to spend another fun week in the Heathrow Sheraton hotel doing training for my new job, so won't see him until next weekend...
Ahh well, at least I remembered to get him something this year.

I also wish all the Dad's here on MacNN a very best on this "Father's Day." All I have now is a father-in-law. Lost my Dad in 1975.

It was a perfect day weatherwise in old New England. And my 11 year old daughter made me outstanding waffles with strawberries and "real, the only kind of maple syrup" for breakfast. My 8 year old boy acted much the same most 8 year old boys act and I mistakenly assumed he'd give me a relaxing day not being such a little twerp, but alas, I was wrong. My 85 year old Dad enjoyed our time having seafood outside at a local restaurant. A very nice day overall.
Happy Father's Day everyone.

TPC and Link: Sorry guys, it's hard losing a parent (lost my mother 5 years ago). Just cherish the memories you have and time will heal some. Peace to your Dads. And you.

Just got my Father's Day present a few hours ago.
Very expensive to care for in the long run, very high maintenence, continually releases noxious fumes into the environment, can be a detriment to your mental health and sleep....
but I don't think my wife would be happy if I tried to return it.

Considering our little man's been teething again recently, my best FD present was a lie-in until 10am. Bliss.
