I have a few apps I like to run when I login, but don't want them all cluttering the desktop. Is here anyway to have the app open and immediately hide?
Thanks

System Preferences>Accounts.
Select your Account then Login items, add the apps you want to launch at login, then check the hide box:

The built in Mac OS X help facility is actually quite useful for basic system functionality queries. I just entered "open application at login", and it displayed all the information you need (as did the post above).

Good to know. I'd tried Google and a few forums but didn't get much help.
