I wandered through a Costco for the first time in my life yesterday, and I learned two things...
1. The new 15” MacBook Air in midnight is sexy as fuck. It’s quite possibly the best looking laptop I have ever seen. It kind of evokes the Powerbook G3.
2. You can buy a bottle of Chateau Margaux at Costco. Sure, it’s the Pavillon Rouge, but still.

Didn’t see any hot dogs, sadly. The samples were pretty paltry. I got a slice of grilled sausage with a little kraut on it. It was meh. I think my wife got some chipotle-flavor sun chips. No big shakes there, either.

They’re on the other side of checkout, right by the exit. At least it is at mine. I get the impression that’s the standard setup.

Yes, the hot dogs and pizza slices are in the cafe by the exit. Notoriously still the same price as... a long time ago, $1.50 for a hot dog is a steal. Kid1 and his friends will walk to costco for cheap lunch.
I avoid the tech aisle when in costco lest I be tempted.

I did not see a cafe after the checkout. I saw a room selling tires and a big open area selling jacuzzis.

Hmm… that’s disappointing.
The tires and jacuzzis track.

The liquor selection was certainly serviceable, if pretty predictable. The beer selection was a joke. Any grocery store in the area has a larger, deeper selection than this Costco did. It was sad. Again, though, I was really impressed with the wine selection. Solid stuff from all over the world.

I'm trying to see the connection, but it's not coming. Why they'd sell those together.
People who own jacuzzis are more likely to buy tires?

Do tires install on a jacuzzi? Where, exactly?

I presume the connection is they’re both near the exit for easy loading.

That's typical for beer selection - Costco doesn't thrive on variety, but primarily quantity and getting you to buy way more than you reasonably need. They have no interest in taking up a large amount of retail space for tight-margin 6-packs, but they'll certainly sell you a 24 pack of Sam Adams something or a giant pack of Lagunitas most broadly-appealing product. I assume they're able to make deals with wine distributors so that they can maintain the margins they want to hit while still selling individual bottles.
I was also at Costco last night - needed dishwasher detergent, TP, new bed pillows, school snacks, dog treats, and a second mattress for the daughter's trundle bed.

All they got me on was a $10 pack of mid-grade cookies. When I got home my wife had just finished mixing up a fresh batch of homemade cookies, so that was pretty dumb of me.
