Ya, not sure how accurate it is either...if you answer yes to all of the questions you get high or very high on everything.

Actually, I do. I'm afraid of groups of people. Sometimes it gets so bad that I'm afraid to go to the grocery store, or walk down a hallway. It's so stupid.

You probably have social anxiety. You should try a medication like Paxil, although I heard it does cause weight gain.

Apparently I'm an obsessive-compulsive.
That's OK, I guess. Atleast I will always be clean. I've been drinking so I answered everything honestly.

I think anyone who is a Gemini doesn't need to take this test and should just answer yes. Since we tend to have quite a few personalities.

Seriously, this test must be taken with a grand of salt. There is no way in real life you can make a diagnostic based on simple yes and no questions. Besides the way the questions are asked are even more important than the answers given, which I think this test failed on bigtime.
Take for instance;
Are you often uninterested in the feelings of others?
It's freaking normal to feel uninterested in other peoples feelings from time to time. They question normal human feelings and want you to decide wether or not you can be described using the word "often" versus the normal "from time to time" or "it happens" which any sane person would consider "normal". The only thing this test is doing is making you feel miserable, because you know you want to answer no, but you still get that little doubt between each question. Either way you can't give a fully yes or no. Any data taken from this test shows more how you read the questions (which failed to begin with) than give a blueprint of your situation.

If I had all those things listed above I would probably know it by now. Or at least family and friends would have reacted me thinks.

Do I have a personality disorder? No.
Did I have a personality disorder? Yes, and for many years, and it was painful, exhausting, dehumanising, depleteing, sad, lonely, frightenening and took me to the brink of suicide.

It took years to overcome it, but I overcame it mostly on my own, through a combination of meditation, sport, avoiding too much booze and partying and basically doing what I felt would be good for me. I was wise enough to never take medication, because I have seen first hand what happens to people who take medication, and that is that sometimes it works, but mostly it only suppresses the original problem and makes other problems such as having no more feelings and a viscious appetite.

It will probably never get as bad as it did then again, but I will probably always have a weakness when it comes to mental stability, but I have learned over the years to watch for the signs of it coming back.

I am amazed in retrospect that I was somehow strong enough to go through all those years without offing myself, but one is sometimes amazed as to what one is capable of when it really gets tough.

The one thing I would have wished for in all those bad years was a good friend. Didn't have any anymore and was too confused and buggered to make new ones.

Mental illness may be a joke to laugh at in a forum like this, but it is a closer bad version of living hell that sometimes makes death seem like an attractive alternative, which is why so many long term heavily depressed, schizoid or borderline people kill themselves.

But anyway, I'm still here and actually pretty well off today, considering the misery that was my life in the 90's. To anyone who has mental problems, I say, don't give up. Never give up. There's always hope and hope will carry the day when nothing else will.

Theolein: I suffer with depression from time to time, I tried medication for a year, It helped, but at the same time it left me feeling even more detached. I got made redundant almost three weeks ago, I'm dreading the prospect of being unemployed for months or longer. Student Loans hanging over me. No money. blah blah blah.
I don't have a social life and have no close friends.
And I can feel the depression looming.
I'm not going to off myself, this isn't a cry for help. Just venting a little, i guess.

Anyone have any advice on coping with paranoia?

XI, this might be a good opportunity for you to start changing some things about your life, if you can and want to. I don't want to preach, but loneliness is a huge killer, and something that is almost taboo to talk about. There's nothing that makes one more depressed than being alone too much. If you can, start going for walks or finding little things to do. I found the best cure for head problems is to go at it little by little. Trying to change things too quickly almost never works, but trying small things a little bit at a time seems to work wonders.

Thanks, voyageur, I appreciate that. I truly am amazed in retrospect about all the wierd crazy stuff I did in those years when I was truly mental. I think the strength came mostly from just always having hope somewhere. I've lost quite a lot of people in my life and I think that makes me hold life to be somehow worthy of fighting for no matter what.

In any case, your post just gave me a kick to carry on writing my book about all those strange crazy times, so thanks again.

Oh I found some other stuff on my favorite disorder:
Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Let me know how many questions you test "positive" for.
Having this disorder is one thing but living with a person who has this disorder is a living hell...trust me. I took the test for person I just talked about and he got 8 out of the 9 questions !

Characteristics of Narcissistic Personality Disorder

A pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy which begins by early adulthood and is present in differing contexts within a person's life.

1. A narcissistic individual is grandiose in their sense of self-importance and exaggerates their achievements and talents. He expects to be recognized as superior without achieving any great accomplishments.

2. A narcissistic individual is preoccupied with fantasies of his brilliance as well as his unlimited success or power. He fantasizes about beauty or ideal love.

3. A narcissistic individual believes that he is "special" or "unique." He feels that he can only be understood by or should associate with other special or high status people.

4. A narcissistic individual requires excessive admiration and is on a constant search for admiration.

5. A narcissistic individual has a sense of entitlement. He has unreasonable expectations of favorable treatment and expect others to automatically comply with his wishes.

6. A narcissistic individual takes advantage of others to achieve his own ends and uses others without regards to the feelings of others.

7. A narcissistic individual lacks empathy and does not identify with the feelings or needs of others.

8. A narcissstic individual is envious of others and believes that others are envious of him.

9. A narcissistic individual shows arrogant or haughty behaviors or attitudes and does not care who he offends.

I wouldn't describe myself as courageous. Not even a little. The way I see it is, it's like wearing glasses. Something isn't 'normal' you correct it. Learn to live with it. I see no shame in suffering depression, therefor it requires no courage at all to be honest about it.

Thanks all the same though

Everyone who posted their results is, at least, moderately narcissistic.

Should we draw any inferences from that? You know, our position that "our computing platform is the best", "Microsoft is the devil seed", etc. After reading about narcissism, ours is pretty typical behavior.

The only sure way to know if you have a personality disorder, is to have it diagnosed.
