Does anyone elses 17" MBP seem to have a very sensative hinge? like if i pick it up to move it and hold the unit like even at a 60 degree angle the screen just falls and would close unless my hands werent on the body of it. Is this normal?

Not normal - the screen should stay put at any angle.

Bogus. It should stay at any angle without falling.

well its under warranty so if i go in there and tell them to fix it they have to send it out to get fixed dont they? they cant deny that its not akward that the screen does that. what also pisses me off is they replaced the disk drive in this macbook pro too and they never tightened the screws back all the way and the case is off in some places, damn genius' always in a rush :-\

I don't know whether they will have to send it away.

I have not seen a MPB with this issue. I would inquire about getting it fixed.

Do you people have 17" macbook pros? I haven't seen one that didn't do this... and it's documented all over.

They can tighten it, but doubt it will last.

yeah its a 17 inch, its just a pain in the ass every time i move it the screen falls. i mean understandably the screen is bigger and weights a bit more than the 15 inch inch but i dont think it should fall like that.

no I know you have the 17" I was talking to tinkered and peeb. I have seen this issue on every pro 17" I have seen, including mine. I've just got used to it and never really pick it up like that any more, still annoying if resting it at an angle on my knees or something but I guess I don't do that either any more.

I'd be interested if you got it fixed, I reckon they'll tighten it maybe but I think that within a week or two you'd be back to normal. I think it's just part and parcel with having a 17" unfortunately.

I don't have one, but we have a couple where I work, and they don't have this issue. I mean, the screen is heavier, so there is a little more movement, but not so that it closes spontaneously.
