well, preseason is only a couple weeks away and I'm starting to get excited.

I haven't followed much during the off season (aside from knowing that CHI signed Havlat). So how are things shaping up for your teams?

Looks like the Blackhawks should do a little better this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up on top of St. Louis and Columbus. but, we'll see

back on topic.

Kinda looking over things at ESPN....

I wouldn't be surprised it the Wild starting making some real noise this year. They could very well make a play off run

Calgary is still going to be super strong on defense and now with Tanguay on a line with Iginala...We are going to be looking good I think.

My heart also sits with the Leafs who look about as weak as they did last year....But I will wear my jersey with pride.

Can't wait.

We got Luongo, but that's about it. We gave up Jovanoski.

Anaheim has got an awesome defensive core: Nedimeyer and Pronger. Geez.

The lightning have an interesting deal if you buy before opening game (october 10th?).

5 (opening and 4 of your choice) games, a $25 petrol card, a drink and hot dog for each game for $75.
Not bad at all.

My wife and I are going to get it and go see a few games.

The LA Kings will win the Western Conference this year. With Marc Crawford at the helm and Dan Cloutier in net, we'll finally have a winning combination.

Rob Blake is back in LA after helping Colorado win a Stanley Cup.
Scott Thorton will make a big difference after helping San Jose last year.

And returning favorites like Craig Conroy, Alex Frolov, and Sean Avery.

If Cloutier stays healthy the LA Kings will be a very very formidable foe this year.

I may have to boycott Hockey this season or find an additional team to pull for, as I have very little hope the Avs will do well this year. Going from über payroll to salary cap just about killed them off last season. Pierre Lacroix let key personal go last season, and Francois Giguere continued that tradition this season.
Yes, I am bitter!
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

I looked for season tickets to the Wild since all regular tickets were sold out for home games. The only tickets left were for a bar rail (not real seats) for $92/game. Season tickets were available but my wife vetoed the idea. *SIGH* Go WILD!

We few hockey fans in Arizona thank you for Jovanoski. I got his autograph on my Yotes jersey a few weeks back.

You guys can laugh, but this is the year of the desert dog. We made some good moves and have a LOT more depth this year. We also have bigger guys to back up our players out on the ice, i.e. Laraque from Edmonton. We picked up Owen Nolan and Jovi and JR looks like he won't be another Brett Hull disaster. Went to all 3 home preseason games and they looked really good out there. It was nice to see us beat Anaheim in overtime Saturday night, we were 0-8 against them last year.

The Pacific Conference is going to be insanely competitive this year. We also get to play the Islanders, Rangers, Flyers, Penguins, and 1 other Eastern team. This should be a great year to watch hockey out here. I also noticed that the NHL Center Ice channels finally showed up on DirecTV the other day. Can't wait till Thursday!

Wow, that's one good thing about not having a fully developed hockey base in Phoenix. Half season tickets at Glendale Arena in the lower level attack zone only cost us $46 each and would have been around $38 a game for full season tickets. The only games that ever sell out are Saturday night games or agaisnt Detroit, so we can get student/military discount tickets for $25 lower level for the rest of the games.

* Well Philly has fired their Coach and the GM has resigned.

*Following a 1-0 loss to the Blackhawks, the Blue Jackets have fired their coach.

* Phoenix, with Gretzky, continue to wallow in the desert

*Rangers seem to be holding up well, hopefully playoff bound again

*Minnesota has come out of nowhere and is wreaking havok in the western conf.

*Buffalo seems pissed about not going to the finals last year and are determined to make it there this year.

*Chicago has had to re-tool from offense to defensive minded play following the loss of Havlet and Zus.

*and I still hate Dallas

Yeah, I'm wondering about the fast starts going on here. Hopefully some of these teams are peaking way too early.

Having said that...the Ducks just look sick. I didn't like the Pronger trade this summer – not because it wasn't a good trade given the circumstances (it was), but because it was a team Edmonton's going to see a lot of, especially if they pull it together and make the playoffs.

Did everyone give up on hockey this year?
Last night, San Jose made Detroit's Hasek cry after allowing 8 straight goals to lose their 3-0 lead and finish 9-4. Both starting goalies got pulled. Actually, it looked like Hasek started crying after the 3rd goal.
Dallas player missed an easy unchallenged open netter and turned over the puck for a quick edmonton tying goal with 2 seconds left, sending the game into overtime and giving edmonton a free point toward the tightening playoff race.

After starting 3-12, the coyotes have gone 14-8-2, taking 11 out of 12 possible points in the last 6 games by shutting out anaheim, san jose, and carolina. Finally Phoenix is playing like they should with the talent they have, JR even got a hat trick in the 8-0 win over san jose. He just needed to get away from the team and have a few pints to get some perspective. Thought i was going to have to eat my hat with a Coyotes playoff prediction and probably still will have to, but they're still in the running!

I've got to hand it to Flyers fans, even with their supreme suckage (half their players came from phoenix over the last few years after all), i see more Flyers jerseys at games or whereever than any other team except possibly Detroit. Even in Rocky Balboa, Philadelphians still came out wearing their jerseys.

Ok posters time to let them have it. MacNN Staff It's our duty to let MacNN know we hate intelliTXT!
