Some cheaper brands only include VGA since everyone has VGA and some people don't have DVI.
Some brands include both, as well as USB cables if there is a built in USB hub or flash card reader.

It's extremely common for the DVI cable to be omitted.

Just remember that if you do need to buy a DVI cable, you don't need to spend $50 on one at CompUSA or Best Buy: go to newegg.com and get it for $11.

A quick survey of the cheapest dozen VGA+DVI LCDs on Newegg shows ~75% include a DVI cable. But Newegg probably isn't carrying the lowest of the low-end brands.

None of the HP displays I buy include them. My impression has been that this is very common in the industry, regardless of brand.

Even non-cheapo brands like Samsung aren't including them with all models.

I've set up a lot of displays for clients, and yes, I would say that most DVI displays include the DVI cable, but it's still a lot that don't. (I consider 25% absence a high amount.)

i bought the xerox 19" widescreen 1440x900 resolution, it's a sweet display...

i found a DVI cable at radioshack for $12.49 so it should be cool...

i paid $269, with a $30 off coupon for office depot, the display normally priced at $299, i thought it was good alternative to a 20" and almost half the price of the dell 20" for $469 that i was considering.

you have to buy online and then go pick it up or delivery, which ever, but still that's a good price for that resolution and format

if anyone needs the coupon code for officedepot.com i have it.
as ever,
sonny

i think i'm gonna take this one back, the resolution doesn't seem right for a 19" display...

and it took me an hour to set everything up and it still hurts my eyes a little...

Every 19" I have ever seen is 1280x1024, usually best at 60Hz.

What are you running?

it's a 19" widescreen 1440x900 native.... 75Hz...

it's a little better today, after much adjustment via the apple calibartor thingy... it's slightly warmer, not as "white bright" as last night...

i've never had a lcd before, so it may just be the shock of switching monitors.

Oh, widescreen, ok.

Well, as long as it's running at the native resolution, it should be sharp and clear.

As for color: if the Apple calibrator isn't doing it for you, I'd suggest SuperCal (http://www.bergdesign.com/supercal/). It's shareware (not crippled) and does a better job IMHO.
