zachs, thanks for the quick reply!

Great! The way it should be.

If you click Show All, you can then right-click on a file and Reveal In Finder.
What about directly clicking in Spotlight's panel? Can I click on entries right away? What about right-clicking? And what happens if I click on a left hand side item like "Applications" or "Folders"?

If you mean the menu that appears when you type in your search...then, yes, you can select an entry to open it. No way to reveal in Finder from the menu, as far as I can tell.

Also, you can't click on the descriptions on the left.

Too bad right-clicking doesn't work in Spotlight's menu. Maybe they can add that...

Ah, they need to add this. Clicking on "Applications" should open the /Applications. Well, OTOH maybe this could be confusing when in Spotlight stuff shows up under "Applications" which isn't actually found under /Applications...

Does anyone have any screenshots of Xcode 2.0? Seems like the only area not covered in this thread. Is it 'stable-enough' to work with or are there any large train-wrecks?

Someone reported Office 2k4 works fine, does VPC 6, OmniGraffle, and other 'essentials' work for testing/supporting/documenting code? I would imagine PGP 8.1 Mail.app plugin is broken in Mail 2.0 just like Panther seeds.

Feeling out whether it is stable enough to work with to run the half-dozen apps I need day to day (pretty much only the above). The alpha seed for Panther was fine, would those running this seed of Tiger paint a picture that this is better or worse (stable or less stable) then the Panther counterpart?

I would be subjecting a Powerbook 1.25ghz / 2 gigs of ram to the install so that I can get a head start on the SDKs. I am simply wondering if the seed as-is is stable enough to do basic day-to-day from while spending most of the time in Xcode. So coming full circle what are people's thoughts with Xcode 2.0 -- is it ripe with application crashes?

NTFS - Does Tiger allow us to 'Write' to a connected NTFS formatted disk?

In Panther its Read Only, so its kind of useless most of the time.

Am I the only one that's really fricking interested in this? Do you notice the text speedup anywhere else? Safari/word scrolling? I'm surprised it only appears to have affected text, I'd have thought it would have accelerated all 2D primitives.

Whoever has legit dev copies can you send feedback to have a hot corner for dashboard. This seems like such an obvious thing that I can't believe it isn't there already. I guess this is an extremely early version though.

F5 brings up Spotlight...

The "World Clock" Dashboard widget switches to white text on a black face after 6PM (AFAICT). During the day it is black text on a white face...

If this really bugs you, here's how you can fix it on your system (requires having the dev tools installed):
1. Control-click on the Calculator application and choose "Show Package Contents"
2. Navigate down to Contents/Resources/English.lproj
3. Double click on Calculator.nib. This should open up Interface Builder.
4. A bunch of windows will open up, click on the Paper Tape window (make sure not to click on any of the elements inside, so that the window itself will be selected)
5. Hit Command-1 to bring up the attributes inspector
6. Uncheck the box that says "Utility window", then uncheck the box that says "Hide on deactivate"
7. Save your changes and relaunch Calculator.

I was hoping for that, too. The system "feels" slower compared to 10.3.4.

Or you could wait until it's feature complete and actually optimized.

One thing the could do is make it so after you copy something, you can paste it with command-v or paste it and delete the original with command-option-v. That would make both sides happy.
How about a "Move" and "Move to Here" contextual menu items?

I hate using spring folders because I dont' like holding the mouse down for long periods of time.

According to the developer release notes many optimization related things have yet to be implemented (stuff like not redrawing the entire window for some apps when you resize it).

Man every year we have some noob installing a DEVELOPER preview only to retort "geez it's kinda slow compared to my current OS"

I truly get scared when I see stuff that this. Can a person be THAT oblivious??

Looks nice! Is that the only new one at the moment? Presumably there will be yet another variation on the 'Aqua' desktop coming.

Another thing - on the subject of cursors: has the resize drag cursor been standardised? To make that more understandable: resize the source pane in iTunes and you get a hand cursor; resize the sidebar in a Finder window and you get a nice resize cursor with white outlines; resize the panes in Address Book or iCal and you get a similar resize cursor, but it looks really nasty without the white outlines.

Also, have they fixed up the 'Preview' icon yet, so the boy doesn't look possessed?

About CPU usage of Dashboard when it's hidden; if you run something like the sharktank does the movie continue to play & take up CPU time when Dashboard is hidden? Also, does dashboard run as a seperate process?

I'm not sure about the CPU usage question. What's the sharktank?

The Dashboard client runs as one process, then each gadget runs as its own separate process.

There was a gadget/widget that Steve Jobs demoed at WWDC (it can also be found in the dashboard video on apple's site). The current seed of Tiger is actually a bit older than the one Jobs was demoing at WWDC, so it doesn't have that widget yet. The stock ticker widget is also missing from the current build.

Gorgonzola edits my post to say: I was foolish and asked a really, really silly question.

I now edit my post to say: I was apparently too coy when I made a joke.

Those of you wishing to read my original post, it's quoted in the post below.

Ok I tried Tiger as a full working system: Here are my experiences

1. All iApps seem to work fine
2. M-Audio Revolution Drivers do not install.
3. Office 2004 works fine
4. Toast Titanium 6.0.5 works fine
5. My Laserjet 3030 All-in-one works fine with full functionality
6. Adobe CS Suite works fine
7. Transmit works fine
8. Safari is a bit shady. I am using Camino instead

I have yet to try out the following

1. Final Cut Pro
2. DVD Studio Pro
3. Logitech Drivers

Will keep an update going on
iMac Intel Core Duo 2.0 Ghz 20", 1.5 GB RAM, 250GB
iMac G5 2.0 Ghz 17", 512 MB RAM, 160GB
iPod Video 5G 60GB White
Mighty Mouse sucks - "Bought the Logitech 518 Gaming mouse"
