Got a question about USB connectivity on an Aluminum (2004) PowerBook G4 1.25GHz running Tiger (10.4.11) with a new Sony Ericsson W580i phone. I can connect perfectly with Bluetooth, and have an iSync plugin enabled for syncing contacts and calendars, but cannot get USB connectivity to work.
I have a 4GB MemoryStick Micro (M2) card in the SE W580, and just plugging in the USB cables (and selecting File Transfer mode on the phone after it restarts) does not work. I went to the Prolific and Silicon Labs websites to download their USB drivers after reading that installing those drivers have allowed other Mac users to establish connections with their SE phones, but after installing both drivers (sequentially) I still can't connect. System Profiler shows that the SE and M2 drives are connected via USB, but they won't appear in the Finder.
I can connect and mount the phone's internal memory and the M2 card on a new Intel iMac, but not on my PB G4.
Does anyone have any ideas on anything else I can try? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
