www.zillow.com is a perfect example.
I'm a huge apple fan like most of you. But it's hard for me to preach the greatness of Apple when it's own software web browser Safari doesn't display MANY basic webpages. Zillow.com is just one example.
Why can't safari display certain pages when others like Firefox can?
What does Firefox do that Safari can't? And why hasn't apple made changes to support said webpages?

If you spoof the the user agent the site sort of works in Safari. One can search for homes and navigate in the map, but the map area is not within the box it should be in but below. It seems to be usable though, but obviously I have not tried to purchase a house.

there are a zillion webpages out there. Explorer and Firefox did a great job of opening every one of them. Why can't Safari?
i thought apple prided themselves on backwards compatibility.

There are a zillion sites, but this particular site blocks Safari. That's hardly Safari's fault.

A company I work for uses two web-based applications that cannot be avoided (one is an HR interface and the other is scheduling). Neither are compatible with Safari (or Firefoxe for that matter). I'm running Vista on another partition on my MacBook to remedy the situation.
BTW...Vista is nice. I find myself WANTING to use Windows, which is odd.

Why would a document be changed to support a specific document reader?

There are now many more Firefox users than there are Safari users. Apple would be wise to have Safari mimic Firefox as best as it can. I often question whether it was wise of Apple to go with KHTML.
