Rick Santorum's wife seems to think he's the Messiah now: Karen Santorum: Husband's surge 'is God's will.'
How come no one ever brags about God's will when He crushes them like a gnat? When Santorum's campaign is finally laughed out of existence, I hope Karen proclaims "my husband's humiliating defeat is God's will."

Bets on how long it will take for Dork. to change his mind about Santorum being the king of batshit crazy...
Rick Santorum on Sunday took on separation of church and state.
"I don't believe in an America where the separation of church and state are absolute," he told 'This Week' host George Stephanopoulos. "The idea that the church can have no influence or no involvement in the operation of the state is absolutely antithetical to the objectives and vision of our country...to say that people of faith have no role in the public square? You bet that makes me want to throw up."
The GOP candidate was responding to comments he made last October. He had said that he "almost threw up" after reading JFK's 1960 speech in which he declared his commitment to the separation of church and state.
Santorum also on Sunday told Meet The Press host David Gregory that separation of church and state was "not the founders' vision."
The GOP candidate has been doubling down on religious rhetoric in an effort to court evangelical voters ahead of Super Tuesday. Last week, he questioned Obama's spiritual beliefs.
"[Obama believes in] some phony ideal, some phony theology ... not a theology based on the Bible, a different theology," he said.

The first part is like his other statements, there's a kernel of truth in there. Religion is an important part of many people's lives, they can't comprehend living without the perspective that their religion brings. Yet because some people can't talk about their religion like adults in the presence of people who don't believe, we treat it like it's some special condition that shouldn't ever be acknowledged by government, That's BS: the Constitution's freedom of religion is the freedom to practice your religion openly, not the freedom from ever hearing about religion.
As always, though, Santorum flubs it in the delivery. I think all that bile he's been spewing lately has given him a stomach bug or something, if he feels the need to vomit all over JFK.
And Santorum would benefit from taking some pepto-bismol and reading the speech again. If it weren't for JFK's spech and its acceptance among a broad swath of the population, Santorum himself may never have gotten elected, because many more people may have suspected that he owed his allegiance to the Pope, and not the country.
That bit on the end, though, is simply a bit to get some of Bachmann's crazy supporters before the election, since it's right out of her playbook, Please give credit where credit is due!

You should know that I don't fling bat guano around at just anyone, ebuddy! The target needs to earn that distinction. Santorum has some work to do, still!

I'm just marveling at how popular he's become on the left in such short time. Kind of makes you wonder if perhaps the ones most quick to lodge this indictment aren't struggling with illnesses of their own. With regard to Santorum, they've certainly been sleeping soundly in their caves until a few short weeks ago.

I mentioned the same thing in the other thread about Santorum. It's amazing how "nutty" and "batty" candidates who regular folks probably have a lot in common with, end up becoming once their opponents start seeing them as a threat. Sounds like irrational fear. Conservaphobia?

You're being reactionary again.
What is probably the craziest about his statements is his belief that the social issues he has tethered himself to are going to be the defining issues of this election.

Of course you have misread the signs again.
Obama supporters love the fact that the republican candidates are so weak that Obama is assured a second term.
Mocking idiots is part of the game.

So true. I'm just surprised he's actually a current politician and not a radio talk show host, or a plumber, or a bunch of old veterans. Usually it's common people with no power at all exercising their free speech that scare the panties off the left.

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports
Irony runs deep in these threads. We've got probably the weakest incumbent Presidential candidate in decades with a terrible economy, and several Republican candidates who are polling above him or within the margin of error and those who see this should be "mocked?"
Well, this is the "batshit crazy" thread after all!
Add to all this the fact that a big part of his strategy is telling the American people he's going to fix something that the vast majority don't see as a problem:
http://freebeacon.com/poll-vast-majo...ir-fair-share/
Yeah ... that Obama is going to roll over those guys with proven track records and experience who actually support ideas and policies most Americans agree with [/sarcasm].

What sanatorium is ignorant of, or choosing to ignore with the Kennedy quote, is that he would not be remotely electable without Kennedy. At the time it was unusual for a catholic to win office and people were scared of the pope controlling the president like a puppet. Kennedy had to make clear that his personal beliefs would not color his judgement when governing a multi-religion populace.
Puke on that? Classy.
(I've typed sanatorium three times on this iPad, but I'm going to let autocorrect stand.)

Is it coincidence that the more Santorum has talked the smaller his lead over Romney has gotten? Or is it because Romney or Paul have started running ads against him? Or am I conveniently ignoring a left-wing smear campaign?

For what it's worth, I also have misgivings about the prospect of a Santorum nomination, but batshit crazy? Nah. Neither one of the above are saying Santorum is batshit crazy and while I'd be very, very happy to see Giuliani (whom I wanted to win over McCain last go-around) or Jeb Bush run, apparently they realize that primaries can be hard on candidates that want the job really, really badly.

Which is sad, because I've never liked an incumbent for as long as I've been politically active. Four years is plenty enough to make me hate you.

Speaking of hate, given the conservatives are luke warm on Mittens to begin with, and given that historically second term presidents do less, and the GOP will likely retain control of the House (and that the conservative field will be of higher quality in 4 years), what do they have to gain by Obama losing, really? (This only 50% patronizing). The ones that believe in government inaction and gridlock is the best case scenario, that is.
Edit: To more directly address your point, though, the math doesn't lie, does it? Your election chances against an incumbent are much slimmer.

Poor Michele. You couldn't win the Presidential nomination. But that doesn't mean you were out of crazy just yet.
Look at the rest of the GOP establishment back away. (Probably because they're in on it, too....)

I've found that with Michele Bachmann all you have to do is sit back and just let her keep talking. Especially when she's in a comfortable environment with fellow far-right individuals. It's pretty much a given that she'll eventually go off the deep end. Huma Abedin has had to get police protection because of the foolishness of Michele Bachmann and her cohorts. But if you still aren't convinced just add this to the mix and that should erase all doubt.

A Challenger appears!
Rep. Kelly Keisling (R-Byrdstown) sent an email from his state email account to constituents containing a rumor that Obama and the Department of Homeland Security are planning a series of events that could lead to the imposition of "martial law" and delay the election. Among the events hypothesized in the email is a staged assassination attempt on the president that would lead to civil unrest in urban areas and martial law.

Should we add Harry to the batshit crazy train?
I am trying to determine whether he's truly gone off this rocker, or just being a lying ********* (like the rest of Congress)....

(That's funny, I was able to say d*****bag in the preview, but it was censored after it posted. You should really think about allowing that word in the Pol Lounge, it gets impossible to describe politicians sometimes without it. Sort of like trying to drive with your middle finger amputated -- I don't think I could do it. )
