Does anyone know how to view a list of the files (.htm's/pages) in a web page? They are all public, but the person who updates the page has removed the links on his page. I know certain pages are still there but I forget the file names.

For example, view like this:

http://www.screennameforum.com/mkportal/files/

the site i'm looking to "view all" for is pretty basic. I can view the images directory like that, but not the main page.

sorry if I don't know how to word this properly...

If there's a "default" file in a directory, you won't be able to see a file listing with a browser. The default file will depend on the server, it may be index.htm index.html, index.php or maybe default.whatever.

You'd need an ftp program and an ftp account to see the actual files.

the directory index (seeing all files in a directory) is a feature of the apache web server, and will activiate, like tomrock said if there isn't an index.html / equivilant file.

When you view a website, you are viewing it through the apache webserver. The webserver does have an account (typically apache, www, httpd, ect...) but this account is setup to not allow login from other services.

if there is an index.html file, you will not be able to view the files in the directory unless _you_ have an account on the server (be it ftp, smb, or similar)

my advice to email to the webmaster. he'll probably allow you access.

he probably also has a reason for not showing directory indexes.
