I am waiting to upgrade my daugher's iMac G5 (Rev B, Radeon graphics) from 10.4.2 to 10.4.3 because of some posts indicating some problem with SIMS 2 which I just acquired for her. Does this program work with 10.4.3, is the problem with certain models (graphics cards) versus others?

Well it is completely screwed up on my Dual Gig G4 with a GeForce 4Ti card in it. It was slow but OK with 10.4.2

According to xlr8yourmac.com the update breaks/changes something in OpenGL, so a lot of programs are affected.

I agree, while this fix did repair the problem with the control pad being displayed incorrectly it causes new problems. Face on my Sims are now corrupted and they look they have some awful disease!!!

Not a good update in my opinion and it makes the game unusable still.

I also have a MDD Powermac G4 with a GeForce4 Ti. The Sims2 doesn't work AT ALL now since 10.4.3. I used the Sims patch Revision C but the display is still all messed up.

Does Sims2 play well on ANY Mac?
Does a new iMac G5 run it well?
Does anyone here have experience using it on a G5, and could you share your observations about performance?

I have a Powerbook with an NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 video card. My Sims 2 was hosed after updating to 10.4.3, and the patch from Aspyr fixed the problem. It plays the same as it did before I updated.

Well as Apple 'broke' the OpenGL I am not blaming Aspyr, but they have not replied/aknowledged my email request for help at all.

What browser are you using? Try using a different browser . IIRC, I had to use Safari instead of my default Firefox to get the update to download without displaying that garbage.

Try right-clicking ( or control-clicking if you still have a one button mouse!) the link and select 'Download Linked File'.

Well, has anyone tried 10.4.4?

Does it fix the OpenGL "bug"?

Well the graphics problems have gone...

BUT it will normally crash just after selecting a family after choosing an area. If it manages to get beyond that it will crash after about 30 seconds or so.

This is with a freshly installed copy of the Sims 2, updated to rev c and on a repaired preferences brand new user with no third party tweaks at all.
