i have this 120GB fujitsu sata hard drive i took out of an older mac book pro, and i figure i would get an external enclosure and hook it up through my SeriTek/2SM2-E host card via my express 34 slot.

my hard drive is a FUJITSU FM80S SATA drive, and my host card is eSATA connection.

i know eSATa can power the drive so i would need a power source, or a enclosure that has a USB port to power as well, simultaneously with the eSata connection.

any help would be appreciated!

actually on my mac book pro it would bebetter off to get a solid 1394b case, i have the port open all the time, and it wouldnt require a host card.

ill take both options if anyone has some . thanks.

You can get a proper enclosure with 1394b if you want, it's clearly more expensive than USB though. Here's one for $60. Going for regular 1394 would be cheaper. Here's one for $26. You can use a simple 6-9 pin cable to go from your MBP's FW800/1394b port to a FW400/1394 device. Here's one for $4.

Personally I prefer SATA docks. They take both 2.5" and 3.5" disks, allow easy exchange, and come with USB and eSATA. In addition they often also act as USB hubs, card readers, etc. The cheapest one I found is $20, but there are many others.
