I have got a PowerBook (Firewire) and I think the ATI graphic chip is not upgradable as it's soldered on the motherboard.

If you are not serious about 3D performance, then I think the ATI mobility 128 is enough. I have no problem to connect the powerbook to an external monitor/TV.

The ATI chip is soldered onto the motherboard. Soldered on as in "attached by molten metal." It's not replaceable or upgradeable!

When they say "modular," they mean that a company can use the new chip without redesigning the board. It doesn't mean it's user-exchangable (or even factory-exchangable).

The ATI graphic chip on the new PowerBook G4 is also soldered on the motherboard.

Hope that Apple can upgrade it to the new Mobility Radeon.

Doesnt it seem more likely that Apple will go with a niDiva card when they integrate AGP x4 into the TiPB motherboard? (next winter?) Visit www.nidiva.com if you doubt that the switch is final.
