I'm just wondering, does the B&W Power Mac have 3 64-bit/33MHz PCI-X slots and one 32-bit/66MHz PCI slot? How do you tell the difference from PCI-X and PCI, does 64-bit PCI and 64-bit PCI-X look the same? Also, is the 32-bit slot the shorter one and 64-bit the longer one? I just got an IBM server, so that's why I got tons of questions. I tried Wikipedia but I couldn't understand some stuff there.

PCI-X first appeared on the Power Mac G5. The B&W G3 never had PCI-X. It had three 64-bit/33 MHz PCI slots and one 32-bit/66 MHz PCI slot (for the graphics card).

Thanks, that clears up a couple of my questions, so how can I tell the difference from 64-bit PCI and PCI-X? Since the 32-bit slot is used for the graphics card, does that mean 32-bit/66mhz is faster than 64-bit/33mhz?

PCI-X is always 64-bit, compared to PCI which was usually 32-bit. PCI-X runs at double the speed of standard PCI: between 66 MHz and 133 MHz, instead of 33-66 MHz. PCI-X is very similar to PCI and is backwards compatible with it to some extent.

So PCI-X and 64-bit PCI look the same?

The ONLY Macs with PCI-X were two generations of the Power Mac G5 and both generations had AGP video cards. No other Mac had PCI-X. Power Mac G3s and G4s had PCI slots. The last generation of the Power Mac G5 and the new Mac Pro have PCI-Express slots.
