Do any MacNN-ers play FFXI?

I'm Kisho from Asura.

If there are enough people, we should make a linkshell! =D

I started a thread exactly like this a while ago, but no one responded. I'm an ex-FFXI player, and now I'm on LOTRO. I could only play for a couple hours at a time, and at that rate you basically can't get any progress in that game.

Yeah, FFXI requires a lot of time to waste. That's why it's a good game for playing in the summer

WoW is for weekend warriors. FFXI is a real gamers MMO.

Played since PS2 launch, love it. Waiting for Dynamis to start right now actually.

Real gamers have to group to accomplish anything at all? Sounds more like my sister to me.

LOL.

Everquest II, by far, is a much more rewarding experience for "true" MMO players.

FFXI is great if you enjoy waiting for people.

I had to quit FFXI due to work and such (not to mention from all of the ra/ex items I saw in my inventory, it was a sign I needed to get out). Of course, by "quit" I mean by "giving my account to a friend, as I am too busy to sign on". Fortunately, I do rarely get the opportunity to sign on, although it's only to either a) talk to my friends, b) help out with quests and such, or c) start a Ridill burn merit PT.

I'm sorry, I didn't know that MMORPG's were for playing solo. My bad.

In all seriousness, I solo everything possible, makes the game more challenging. But 64 person dynamis is fun also. As is laggy 700 person {Besieged}.

Never played everquest II, it looks pretty tho. It's got about the same membership as FFXI right? (I think we're at around 500,000 and dropping) Ya, WoW has more players. Big deal. It's not like FFXI servers are empty, it's actually right around perfect.
