Hi all
I am able to change the permissions of   disk0,disk1....disk* in the  /dev
using :-  chmod("/dev/disk0", 777);  I am calling this function in my program, but
when i login through user other than system administrator (root) then i am not
able to change the permissions (because the function fails).

What should i have to do to sought out this problem.

Thanks and regards

You don't want to do that. Don't do that.

What are you trying to do?

No, you don't. You do not need to change the permissions.

huh? why's it matter which user you use to _read_ the disk, as long as you have permission?
What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Well, normal users can't do raw reads from the disk for obvious security reasons.

You are clearly not qualified to be doing what you are doing. You will find that other people will be unwilling to do your work for you. If you would like to get someone else with more knowledge to do your work for you, you will probably have to pay them some money. There are quite a few Mac development consultants about.
