I have the 15 inch 1.25 powerbook. Some of my audio applications tie up 100 percent of the CPU. Is it cool for my machine to keep maxing out the CPU for a few hours (like 8!?), thanks for letting me know.

Yeah, it's fine. My video and 3d apps peg my CPU as well...
