I used the software install and restore disc in order to restore the apps. However the powerbook has taken 3 hours on the screen that
says:
MAC OS X
Waiting for local disks

what do I do? the progress bar has not moved for the past few hours, and the cd is seemingly not spinnig, is there a way for me to reset the machine or something without messing it up? most importantly is my date going to be safe?
thanks for the replies

If nothing has happened for hours, I'd just push and hold the power button for about five seconds which will shut the computer down, and reboot. You'll likely have to start over again with the install. You haven't made it very clear what you're trying to do.
