Whether there's a PowerBook G5 in a few months or many, here's what I'd like to see in the lineup:
G5 at 1.2 GHz and 1.8 GHz (at .90m)
256 MB DDR RAM (so's ya can upgrade with a full 1GB stick at a time) with 2GB to 4GB max)
60 GB 5400 rpm HD or 80 GB, or
60 GB 7200 rpm HD
15.4" and 17"
Ati Radeon 9600 (or 9800) with 128 MB DDR RAM
All the current ports and I/O
same optical drive choices
AE built-in on all models
I'd really like to see Apple offer higher resolution screens as an option.
Likely?

From all these posts, the number one thing for consumers to want would be a better quality control team at the plants. Especially if some is gonna fork out a large sum of money for a G5 Powerbook which should cost a lot more than the G4s. Everyone would love a perfect G5 Powerbook.

Hey man, me again...
When it comes out... (not before MWSF 2005 or even later):
I say the G5'll be a killer, one hell of a mean machine. They won't be satisfied by putting in a 1.2 GHz G5 in there, it'll be a liquid cooled 2GHz baby, at least, with:
1 GB RAM
120 GB 7200 HD
15.4" and 17"
ATI Radeon 9800 at least, or whatever comes out before.
Oh yeah and OS X.5, code-named "KillerPussy"

Hmmm... I dunno about a 1.8. Maybe more like a 1.6 GHz.

Same features as the existing PB's plus:
G5 processor - whatever speed is cool enough to work
Optical digital audio in/out, ala the G5s
7200 RPM drives as a BTO option.
User upgradeable hard drives.
Up to 2 GB of RAM.
Maybe a choice of screens, though this is lower down on the list.

hmmm, let's see. Since we're talkin' a year away, howbout' 4GB ram, 256M video, 1GHz bus. Also, the ability to change the color of the keyboard backlighting in the system pref, from white to blue to red to purple, orange, whatever. Maybe even the ability to crash any peecee laptops within a 100 ft radius...Zap!

I'd like to see them put the ports on the back instead of the sides and increase battery life like the Centrinos get.

PC laptops are now available with Radeon 9600/128 MB DDR RAM. Is there any chance that Apple would offer the max available VRAM on the video card? It seems like even the PowerBooks only have half the VRAM as top o' the line PC laptops.
