So I was watching the QT stream of the music event yesterday (btw, as someone who's been watching Apple's QT streams of live events since they first introduced them, H.264 is staggeringly beautiful), and I noticed that I never chose a bit rate. Surely, the bitrate that I'm currently watching (around 600kbits/sec) isn't the only one available, so I'm wondering how they do that? As far as I know, QT doesn't support MBR files, so at what point is that decision made? Is it something that anyone with a QTSS can do, or is there something crazy going on with Akamai?
