Hi, I'm having a lot of problems uploading my films from Imovie into Youtube.com. I keep getting messages saying the file format is wrong.

Can you guys help me out with some steps on how to do this right? Thanks

I believe YouTube movies need to be encoded using the Flash codec (.swf). Unfortunately, my employers block access to YT, so I can't check for sure.

i thought that youtube itself encoded to flash. what does their faq say? make sure you export your imovie into a quicktime movie and you're not just trying to upload the raw dv.

http://youtube.com/t/help#videoformats:

"YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras and camcorders, and cell phones in the .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG file formats."

Use the Export... menu option in iMovie to export to a Quicktime file, then upload the resulting video. See if that works.

That's what I was thinking...but will it have to be Quicktime Pro? Because I only have regular Quicktime right now

You can export from iMovie without QT Pro.

How do I do this? Do I export the movie into my cam and then import it back into Quicktime?

if it doesnt, what i do is i export to h.264 video and acc audio...

H.264 settings at a setting of low and the resolution set to 320x240
the audio is at 128 bit rate and at 44.1 hertz....

i use FCP instead of imovie so i cant verify it....
