Looks like it might be a job for Diskwarrior. If that doesn't do it, copy everything off and rebuild the RAID.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Your RAID has probably had it then.

I'm assuming your RAID is two 1-TB drives in an external case. It looks like the enclosure implements the RAID function, since Disk Utility is not seeing the slices.

Either the enclosure has failed, or one of the drives inside has quit. Try pulling one drive at a time, see if the other will mount by itself. Better yet, try each drive in a different case and see if it will mount. If they both mount, you need to call Newertech about their enclosure.

i just got this enclosure last month . it was an open box.
i installed 2 drives and started coping my files to when it stated clicking
apparently the fan was not working and the drives overheated
sent the case back for repair . i was told the had to replace all the boards inside
and now 30 days later it wont mount. the drives are about 2 years old

i will try your suggestions
thanks fred

Its one of those cop out sort of answers you get from tech support sometimes but RAID units are often very picky about disks. You'll likely find there is a list of supported drive models/firmwares you can put in the enclosure and still receive help with it. Anything else and they just write the "incompatibility" off as the problem and refuse to troubleshoot further. They only guarantee disks they've tested the unit with which is never usually all that many. They also tend to be expensive RAID spec drives too. Expect to pay 2-3 times more for drives on the supported list as a general rule.

Its one of the things I like about some of the Netgear RAID boxes is that they support one or two consumer drives but they tend to be very slow and not all that reliable long term as it turns out.
