Jan

At $600 or so a pop I imagine there are very few takers right now.

wow... just asked about this. Missed this thread. They are still hella pricy. But I want to see what they'll have them @. Between a Ram sucking Panther (or even Jag), and the limits on the 12" (either 768 or 1.25 - only 2 ram options). tic, tic, tic...
Waiting to see.

I'd imagine 768mb would be enough for most people. But then again, so would a G4 iBook...

Kingston sells 1GB memory for 15/17 inch powerbook. But the price is over $1000.
Is there anyone who buy such an expensive memory?

i agree -- that is crazy. there are other vendors that presently sell for 500-600, but i'm hoping crucial will help drive that price down.
but, i'm sure some people will pay a premium for memory ... or their computer, just as they would for a car (say to get a volvo or range rover) ... or to put a 2000 performance exhaust system into their car ...
myself, i use my computer more than i use my car

here = crucial's latest response:
Currently, we are not showing an ETA for the 1G DDR. No idea on price at this time. If you would like to be notified when the 1G is available, you can sign up for the Crucial news letter, located on our home page.
oye!
