The graphics remind me of the ones on Heroes.

Same here. I'm not looking for the same kind of investment as Lost requires. I want story arcs to be contained within a season. I don't want to watch for years just to get a glimpse into what's going on. Lost was pretty good, but people have clued into the fact that JJ is just messing with us. I don't think people are going to want another Lost ... if I knew then what I know now about Lost (which is to say, years later and not much more), I never would have started watching it.

I wonder if Heroes and Fringe share post-production software.

They're a direct pull from the opening credits to Panic Room--swapping Copperplate Gothic with Helvetica:

Both Lost and Fringe use Futura in opening credits, too.

Well, I didn't mean the font, just a similar idea. Thanks for the info though.

I didn't much like the first episode, but I watched the second one to see if it got any better. It didn't. So that was the end of it for me. I can't stand to watch either of the two main characters (the older scientist is a semi-main character it seems). They suck (or the writers/editors/producers/directors suck).

Don't listen to them; it's fantastic.

This episode was a bit of a letdown, but I'm not giving up just yet.

wow, where has this thread gone? Fringe is really enjoyable.

Tonight's episode -- great backstory, some unexpected twists and turns.

I am playing catch up but I enjoy the show quite a bit.

When I look at Fringe, I picture some Fox executives getting pitched a new drama:

"The show has a Mulder, a Scully and a Deep Throat, except in Fringe Deep Throat doesn't die in the first season."

I find it hard to stay that actively engaged with Fringe, not that it's mediocre necessarily. That's just me though.

I agree, but that doesn't stop me from liking both shows. It's not like X-Files is still on.

PS, is Deep Throat Walter or the Watcher?

Pretty good. Fringe has been my favorite series this year. Of the last 3 episodes, the first two were very good. The third, the finale yesterday, was good but it felt thin in some places: they glossed over the First People origin/explanation, how the machine got there (or was even built), and the fate of the second universe (no visuals, Walternate just there). That ep was a little to Lost-like for my tastes.

Can't wait for next season.

I agree on the first two, but skipping the destruction of the other side made sense. The whole episode was Walter-2026's message to Peter-2011's brain. The message was about our side, and including some pyrotechnic tour de force in the other universe adds nothing to that message (Peter already knew that part was going to happen).

I'm a bit torn on the finale. I kind of feel it was written to stand as a series finale (however unsatisfying), in case the show didn't get renewed. Luckily, it has been renewed.

Hah, that would be quite a bad finale! Two separate "it was all a dream" cliches in one day (one for Olivia dying and the world too, and another for Peter being in the show). I'm glad they have to come back

Did the show end with the bald guys talking about Peter? My PVR cut out right after that so I don't know if there were any more scenes after that.

That was the last scene. There wasn't a dance number with Walter & the cow after that. Definitely not.

It's back!

I didn't know until after the premier, so I had to go... get it. Hopefully I can save someone else the trouble for next week.

Did anyone see it yet?

Yep!
Wasn't paying enough attention to it to pass any further intelligent comment though.
