Inevitably. Though he is the youngest of the bunch, which probably factors in. That said doesn't MLB have a new commish? Haven't heard anything about him. NFL is a hated idiot and NHL's is irrelevant (They still have Bettman, the guy who almost buried the league with the lockout?)

Silver's future depends on the next CBA. The player's union got fleeced in the last Stern deal and between the new TV revenue and new representation and an ability to terminate the CBA early there's a lot riding on Silver finding a way to navigate avoiding a second lock-out in six years without greatly upsetting the owners. I think how he comes out of that will probably determine his favorability for a few years.

Pretty crazy article. I'm glad you posted that, as I hadn't seen it.

Devious and sometimes careless.

KJ also had hernia surgery in 1996 after years of abdominal problems that were allegedly brought on by picking up teammate Oliver Miller to celebrate a play.
For those who don't know: Oliver Miller was freaking huge.

Tom Brady after 2 games in 2007: 576 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT

Tom Brady after 2 games in 2015: 754 yards, 7 TDs, 0 INT

He now has more passing TDs than 26 other NFL teams. Which is odd because he's so used to throwing a deflated ball.

Also, here is a clip in which a ref flags someone for taunting then promptly trips directly into said player.

Honestly, despite all the "Aaron Rodgers has perfected the QB position" hype that I've been hearing from people like Dan Le Batard (and the media attention surrounding Deflategate), I don't think there's ever been a quarterback as good as Tom Brady. He's an alien.

16th season and looks better than anyone at the position except arguably Rodgers. Aaron is a more complete QB IMO, with better mobility, deep ball, and harder to tackle. Choosing between the two objectively is kind of impossible, prime Peyton as well.

I'm more exasperated at the sports pundit world anointing Andrew Luck as a top QB. I really like Luck, and he has made some astounding 4th quarter heroics in his time in Indy, but he is a turnover machine and hasn't proved (to me at least) that he can function with the pieces given to him. Reggie Wayne was his security blanket all last season, and now he's gone, and it shows.

Bill Simmons to resurrect his podcast - The Boston Globe
The podcast will be called The Bill Simmons Podcast rather than the B.S. Report. Three podcasts per week will be produced in the first six months. It will be found in the usual places initially — iTunes, SoundCloud, Stitcher, Spotify, and so on — and a specific web page will eventually be created as a landing spot.

The content will be familiar to his regular listers, with the Guess The Lines podcast with Cousin Sal available on Mondays. There will be an NFL picks-focused podcast on Fridays with Simmons’s friend Joe House, a familiar guest on the ESPN version of the podcast. Media members and celebrity guests will appear on other podcasts.

A lingering question regarding the podcast is whether ESPN will allow Grantland talent such as NBA writer Zach Lowe to appear as a guest. An ESPN spokeman noted that ESPN cooperates with many non-ESPN shows in allowing guests to appear, but said the network would take each request from Simmons “on a case-by-case basis as we normally do.”

Rodgers put a hurtin on KC last night, and then I saw this stat today.

Aaron Rodgers last 16 regular season home games:

• W-L: 15-1
• Pass yds: 4,472
• TD: 43
• Int: 0

That...is bananas.

That is absolutely inhuman.

I sent this to my brother-in-law. Just at lunch today, he was saying, "Yeah, but Rodgers' stats aren't much better than Romo's."

Appeals court rules that ban on pay for college athletes is illegal : SCOTUSblog
Ruling that the Supreme Court has not settled the issue, and setting the stage for the Court to do so, a federal appeals court declared on Wednesday that the main college sports organization’s total ban on any pay for students who play football or basketball at major schools is illegal under federal antitrust law. But, it also ruled by a divided vote that those athletes should not be paid even one dollar more than what it costs them to attend college while they are there. It voided a judge’s order that they get paid $5,000 for each year of play, after they have left the campus.

Time to start looking through those Taboola links? They're all about former child actors, it seems.

That Dead Spin article on Mark Davis was ****ing nuts. I was shocked to hear he travels 500 miles to get that hair cut.

Mark Davis Travels 500 ****ing Miles To Look Like That!

Most days start the same — behind the wheel of a white 1997 Dodge Caravan SE outfitted with a bubble-top Mark III conversion kit, a VHS player mounted to the roof inside and a r8hers personalized plate. Mark Davis pilots this machine from his East Bay home to the nearest P.F. Chang’s, where he sits at the left end of the bar, same spot every time, puts his white fanny pack on the counter, orders an iced tea and unfolds the day’s newspapers. Beside him on the bar, next to the papers, is his 2003 Nokia push-button phone with full texting capability. When someone calls and asks him where he is, he says, “I’m in my office,” and sends a knowing nod to the bartenders. It gets ‘em every time.
You can't make this shit up.

Slick shoes?! Are you crazy?!

To say coaches are creatures of habit is an understatement. Their routines are practically like rituals because changing anything is bad luck.

You trying to say that owners don't often make coaching-type decisions? Last I saw, micromanagement by owners is a major thing in the NFL.

Despite being a lifetime Cowboys fan (the pain...), I've always loved this about the Packers.

I also think they have the best uniforms in the NFL: https://ryanaustindean.wordpress.com/tag/nfl/ (old blog post)

[EDIT] Also just saw a long-ignored typo in that post. Sue me.
