Maybe there's a theme, or you could try this program.

There is a Liquid Theme atMac OS Resources
which worked for me.
A-Dock is a good substitute for the Dock.
You can also use greg's browser if your used to the column view.(i believe that is correct)
check versiontracker for other options.

I remember when I tried to do that under OS 9 once. It looked much worse than OS 9 looks by default. Without the drop shadows, buffered windows, etc., it just doesn't look right. OS X is OS X, and OS 9 is OS 9. IMHO.

There is a theme that mimics Mac OS 9s looks in a good way, I can not remember the name just now maybe doing a search inside the GUI forum, or asking to the GUI folks there...

It's called Platinum I think and it's found at www.maxthemes.com

You will need to download Shapeshifter to implement the theme.

Holly ****! I didn't even know I was still hosting at that server.

Not sure if I remember where I've got the desktop picture from. Love my own theming from back then tho. If it comes back to me, I'll post it.

Very cool! Thanks for looking for me.

I am not sure if this is a new idea, but I wonder (note i am not looking at the forum index right now) a classic os 9 customization screenshot thread? I only ask because I recently resuscitated my old webserver's hdd and found tons of os9/linux/mac-on-linux shots that are pretty cool.
