Everyone,

I've been re-thinking my decision to put Yellow Dog Linux on the beige
G3 I'm getting. A friend told me YDL is optimized for G3's post beige
G3s and that it may not run it very nicely at all.

And the same friend who is giving the beige G3 to me may also be
selling his powerbook pismo! I've always wanted one of those! The only
problem is, I have no money for it right now

So I'm stuck with this: should I get the beige G3 and try it ANYWAY?

OR, back up everything on my computer (which won't be hard. I did that
before I did an erase and install of Jaguar) and install YDL on my iMac? This would mean partitioning into 3, for OS 9, X and YDL. Would I run into any problems doing this? Will each OS sit on it's own partition and not bother the other OS's??

Or somehow, get the powerbook? My friend said he'd give me a good deal
on it. But remember, I'm Canadian, so this will be Canadian funds ---
American. Damn exchange rates.

Your suggestions are most welcome

Thanks!

razzy,

I would give it a shot. Whatever system you want to try it on, go for it. You can't give up before you even try!!

Try to get your hands on that Pismo... She'd be a beauty. However, don't do it if it will financially strain you.

Linux can be as fast as you want it to be... just run command-line .
Realistically though, you will never know until you try. Don't be discouraged.

Cheers!
