Google just released a sync method to allow you to sync your contacts and calendars to google. It uses Exchange Activsync. Anyone know if this will let you sync both your MobileMe and your google contacts/calendars simultaneously. I seem to remember that Exchange sync on the iPhone is compatible with also syncing MobileMe but not desktop sync. I'm hoping this also works.

I answered my own question. You can use both MobileMe and the google sync together. Yeah!

From the overview:

When your iPhone fetches new data, this has an effect on battery life. You can set how often your iPhone fetches data in the Settings application under Fetch New Data. Google Sync works best if Push is enabled, but this will impact your battery life more than if you choose a different setting.

PUSH? Whaaa? Anyone know how this is working? I'm a little leery of trying it as all of my contacts are currently sync'd with my work exchange server.

does it sync multiple calendars and colors onto the iPhone? when I set this up, it only synced one calendar and did not use colors.

as far as I can tell, nuevasync is a better option for syncing contacts and calendars. it uses colors + multiple calendars

Go to m.google.com/sync AFTER you set up the sync acvount on your iPhone. Go to that url from the iphone safari browser. You will then see the option to enable the other calendars.

You can sync up to 5 calendars.

I'm still syncing with nuevasync. you can sync up to 8 calendars with it. once Google Sync allows me to sync at least 8 calendars, I'll stick with nuevasync

Anyone know if you can sync to more than one Exchange server at a time? I have a friend who currently syncs with MobileMe and his work Exchange server, but he'd like to add his google calendars if possible so he would then have two Exchange servers.

As of now, you can only sync one Exchange server with the iPhone. Given that not even Outlook can support multiple Exchange accounts, I doubt this will be changed any time soon.
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

This seems odd as the iPhone seems to keep each account separate at the root level: there's a separate entry for MobileMe and Exchange. I hope they add the ability soon.

I'd also like to see more calendars synced. If this works as well as MobileMe syncing, I just might save myself $100 this summer...although the other features of MobileMe are nice (iDisk, mac.com email address come to mind).

if google sync would offer the ability to sync even 7 calendars instead of 5 I would switch. the only annoying thing about nuevasync is it choose calendar colors randomly so sometimes you get two calendars with the same color.
