Hi,
I captured my dv footage from the camera to Final cut pro express 2.0. I wanted to use FCP but found it too difficult to use so I want to revert back to Imovie. I've tried exporting the files from FCP as quicktime stand alone movie and as dv footage.Imovie attempts to import them but at the end gives an error stating the the import failed with a -40 error code.

Anyone have an ideas ? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about this, but I think there's a files size limit for iMovie media files. That's why importing more than 10 minutes into iMovie always splits up the clips. Also, traditionally error codes in that range are for file system errors (don't know if that's different now). Try splitting your file up into < 2GB DV streams (less than 10 minutes).

I was thinking something along those lines myself. The files are 10gb and about 45 mins.

Thanks for the tip, Now I have to figure out how to split files in FCP

To give credit where it is due, I found this link at videohelp.com (aka dvdrhelp.com). A greate place to find answers, but not Mac specific (though there are a fair number of Mac users there).

Great stuff, thanks. It is indeed tedious splitting the files manually and importing them in pieces.
