I use the command/apple key-shift-3 shortcut a lot to take pictures of my desktop and up till now it has always sent it to the desktop but now it isn't and I have no idea why and I can't find it anywhere else or know how to set it. Any help?

Double check to see if it is in fact on your desktop, but just not showing up. To do so, click on the Desktop in the shortcut pane of any Finder window and see if they're showing up in there.

Do a spotlight for "Picture 1". If there is an existing "Picture 1" then rename the original. Then take a new shot. I have seen them not show up until you move or rename a file in the Finder. It is weird.
