I did a clean install of Mac OS 9.1 and now Mac OS X can no longer launch Classic, telling me that the system needs a later version of the software for this particular model (PowerMac G4).

Help! My System Folder (Mac OS 9) is missing the Classic files, such as Classic, ProxyApp, and the like.

How do I reinstall Classic?

Are you still able to boot back into native OS 9.1 on that machine? Any 9.1 install that the machine can boot natively should also be able to work as a valid Classic startup folder, and on first being used it should ask if you want to update resources for Classic automatically.

Also, check in your Classic prefs panel and make sure it's actually selected the new OS 9.1 volume/folder as its boot folder, not some other system folder (i.e. do you still have an "Original System Folder" lying around somewhere on disk that might be selected as the boot folder?)
