On my wife's new Macbook, she downloaded 180 or so pics from a trip to iphoto. We wanted to make them smaller so they could be posted on a web-based photo archive site. When she downloaded, the display order of the pics was wrong, so I had her export all the selected pics to a new folder on the desktop, then opened that in iphoto in order to reduce size and preserve numerical order. We looked at it and it looked right (correct number sequence in the folder). But when iphoto opened them again, the order was corrupted. One time, we thought we had it but when she tried to upload to shutterfly, the order was wrong again. Can anyone help me. We spent over three hours trying to 1) change the file size and 2) preserve the correct order; and 3) upload to the web with no success.

OK. Are you using the Shutterfly pluggin for iphoto? I think that will help you.

Shutterfly | Free software | Features

Once you have installed that, go to Export in iPhoto's File menu. That should bring up a tabbed dialogue box. You can either export as files (in which case you can specify the maximum sizes, or click the new tab to export using shutterfly's tool.
Actually, now I look at it , Shutterfly does not let you change the size, so you will have to export them - picassa's iPhoto plugin lets you specifiy the size to output.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. The problems seems to be that the order of the photos get jumbled when they come in from the cmera and again on the way to shutterfly.

Well, most likely what is happening here is that you are seeing the results of different sort criteria. Your camera sorts them in one order (most likely date and time) then shutterfly sorts them by another criteria (filename, or upload date or something). You can, I think, change the way Shutterfly orders the photos, or you could rename the files. What you have to remember is that at the point they come off your camera, they are just image files, with no particular 'order' to them, so you have to tell the computer, or the file host in this case, how to sort them.
