If some of you have wondered why my insightful commentary has been missing from the World Series discussions lately, it's because my wife and I (well, mostly my wife) have been busy making sure that there'll be at least one more Met fan in the coming years.

Our beautiful daughter, Carolyn, was born this past Sunday. More pictures and vital stats will be available on my wife's Blog, if you would like to see them. (She also posts frequently about knitting and dogs, if that's your thing...).

Any tips on raising a girl? I hope she doesn't marry a Yankee fan...

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter Carolyn. She is cute baby. What an awesome experience. Your wife Sarah has a very nice Blog.

Cute, but does she really need all that baggage?

By the time she's of marrying age, the Yankees will be completely different. Mayor Derek Jeter will have built the Yankees a whole new burrough, while the Mets will STILL be playing/disappointing at Shea.

By that time, the people of Boston will have gotten Theo Epstein elected Pope, so we'll see how well the bourough of Steinbrenner fares...

By that time, the Braves hopefully won't be so darn good. I mean' Bobby Cox has to retire someday...

Or better yet, maybe they'll move them back to Milwaukee after Selig moves the Brewers to Vegas!

One of the neat things about being a parent is playing these "what-if" games about the future...

Congratulations! I almost skipped this thread thinking it was a baseball thread. Beautiful new baby girl you've got there.

Oh, in that case, don't let Carolyn know that the NY Media is vindictive...

Congrats on the beautiful baby girl. I imagine you have some trying times ahead as a Dad though. I teach high school and even the sincerely nice, smart, sweet girls wear clothes that would make you blush.

It is standard to wear a very tight shirt, and always show your thong and belly.

I can't imagine what will be o.k. in 15 years?

But enjoy the time you have, I'm sure it will go rapidly.

Cute kid. As for the Met fan thing...um, at least she won't grow up as a Yankee fan. That's the nicest thing I can say about that.
