Hey,
I just noticed that Apple released a new music sampler when you restore your iPod and reconnect it.

Yeah...when I got my iPod back from the shop last week and fired up iTunes I noticed the new album. I naturally downloaded it as it's hard to argue with free. I've yet to sample all the songs but its a good idea by Apple to get them into using iTunes. I got the first album they posted as well.

It's things like this that set Apple (and iTMS) apart IMHO.

I send out a weekly email to my iPod friends telling them of the free songs. It's actually rather cool because we can all reply with what we thought about the song.

is it only supposed to be for people with a new/restored iPod? the free album looks like its got some good stuff on it, i hope they let other people in on the secret more often!

Yeah I was wondering if there was another way to get to it? I didn't really take the time to investigate.

For what it's worth, Mixed Tape 06 from Mercedes Benz is now available (until May 17).

If you look hard enough online, you can find "Tapes" 1-5 online; un-DRMed MP3, legally downloadable music compilations which actually contain some pretty interesting tracks.

It's a bit quirky and you have to allow for the pop up window from mercbenz to show the "player". From within that, you can dig up the link to download the whole album.

Interesting. I wonder if they will be giving away this CD at the auto show this year. I have an old Mercedes CD with a "Love" theme from a few years back that I got at the New York auto show. I'll be there on Monday and can find out.

Have you tried it again? I just clicked the link and it launches iTunes and brings me to the free album. Downloaded fine from there.
