As far as we can tell, the show turned out really well, probably our best show yet... it's always a little hard to judge these things.

I'm bad with headcounts, but it looked to me like a big enough turnout for the venue to be happy.

Both sound guys complimented us. I figure they're not doing that to every band who comes through.

They had a fancy lighting setup, and I was horrified our underlighting would clash with it. Thankfully it didn't. On top of it, their lighting guy was really good, and knew how to roll with what we added to the presentation. It was certainly our best looking show, and I think one of the better looking shows they've had, if only because it switched things up.

To wrap it all up, I mentioned earlier this is one of the bigger deal venues in the city. I saw John Cale there BitD. The Stones have played there. They gave us free beer...

I think we just got our hand on the next rung.

Pictures soon!

I gather you have two outfit themes. Animal/Party theme, and cyborg/metals theme. May I suggest a 3rd? Sith Lords. The first pic brings Evil Emperor (Darth Sideous) to mind. Biggest minus: someone would have to shave their head to do Darth Maul properly.

The official breakdown is:

Cats and gypsies for all ages
Burlesque for the adults

Sometimes we swap, though. The lass in the first pic (who will kick your ass, BTW) is is a gypsy, even though this was a burlesque show.

My head is shaved, but I've worn the makeup before and can't stand it.

You keep saying, "she'll kick your ass". I'm for women's rights, equality, and all that, I mean that with all my heart. A couple years ago a woman (tall and rather muscular, 5'11", maybe 170lbs) wanted to box with me (using gloves, of course) and told me, "don't hold back at all". At first I did, of course. Then she angrily told me to stop taking it easy on her, twice. So I fought like I normally would with a guy... well, she lasted ~4 seconds before she was on the ground with blood gushing from her nose and a busted lip. Afterward she was pissed off and gave me shit all weekend about how I'd been rough on her. I'll never, ever do that again, I felt really awful.

The lady with the latex kicks your ass because you ask for it.

The lady without may just be me trying to make hay out of an Emperor Palpatine reference.

We've been around enough we have our own curse, now.

A couple years ago, we had a Blackhawks final delay our show by two hours.

Thursday's show just got canceled because the only place we could have loaded-in is right on the Blackhawks victory parade route.

Double-dog curse, too, because this is the second show at this location to be cancelled.

Oh. OH! Well, that's something else entirely. Just a hobby or is it her vocation? (I'm not judging in any way, I find the concept fascinating.)

Okay... you caught us.

She's actually only pretending she'll kick your ass. In reality she's an actress.

Aaaaand, they moved the parade away from our load-in street.

I should mention... the cat part was me riffing off of having the cats in the band. Actual cat pee is a little too high-octane for me to tolerate on the carpet. Cats won't do that anyway unless their peeper is broken.

This is from my darling poodle, who never quite got the hang of being house trained. It's not like I can throw her out, so I cope via regular(ish) steaming.

That it will never really come out is an accurate observation. You can tell in the first pic which ones are new, and which ones are old, but still acting as dirt magnets.

I used to deal with it by having this room be on indefinite lockdown, but got sick of it after a few years.

The dog prefers this, not just for the additional baño, but it gives her an extra 10 feet of runway to chase the ball, and she gets to brake on "turf" rather than the slippery terrazzo outside the room.

I meant more smelling, rather than looking. I have a neighbor whose cat peed everywhere, and shampooing the carpet did not remove the smell. It was only ripping it and the padding up that helped. He is a jerk cat who will pee on any soft surface.

Oh yeah... if it was cat instead of dog, that would be a problem. Dog pee is far less pungent.

That said, Anti-Icky Poo works surprisingly well, and you can inject it under the carpet.

It's not an ideal solution, but after several years of trying to deal with the dog pee, one room has been declared the "official" bathroom and gets covered in training pads. It mostly works. It had been over a year since I steamed in there, so her accident rate is once every couple months.

The thing is, my jerk cat thinks to himself, "if she gets to pee in there, so do I... I'll poop too".

Then my dog started to eat the cat poop. I'd see a training pad look like it got hit with an alien chest-burster.

Then my dog started to eat the pee pads raw.

She clearly has pica or something.

Normal politics. Who's in charge of personnel decisions? Is there a contract?

Who owns the rights to the name/project/recordings? If everybody collectively, which is the default here in Germany unless specified otherwise by a contract, the problem is that anybody who gets fired still gets to decide what happens with the project and can put a hold on everything, and can demand his cut of *everything*, including all assets and studio gear, if they're figured against the band's taxable income.

What happened to conflict resolution? is firing and going nuclear the only options? Did the person being "mean" admit it? Refuse to apologize?

Oy.

What a pity, just as you're taking off.

But then again, I seem to recall you saying that the only original member is the band leader, so he's started over before?

I guess you decided against pounding the crap out of the cat abuser, rubbing their nose in the cat pee etc?

I found a product that breaks the sulfur bonds in the pee so cats don't smell it. I think it was Odor Blaster. My Maine Coon stopped peeing in that same spot after.

I'd ask if mean person was mean ENOUGH to warrant firing, if it was just two people being catty ( )but then the subsequent blackmail threats render it moot. Mean person sounds toxic.

Is reverse blackmail possible? Such as, if you nuke the band, you will never work in this town again?

Luckily, it's from a dog, so it isn't the disaster it would be if it were cats.

I only said cats because I thought it would be funny to imagine it was the singers playing the cats who did it.

Perhaps everyone will cool down once the economics set in. When they've gotten used to living as stars, cutting off the fat checks might have a strong impact. Nothing like a little reality.

This might not be the best of advice, but If it was me I would tell mean person not to let the door hit his/her ass on the way out. I don't respond well to threats and never have - no way I would ever let someone put me in a position like that.

Arise, and feel the caress of edits!

The storm has mostly passed, and depending on the upcoming auditions, either we're going to ramp up for live performances, or work on the album.

The one fly in the ointment is the landlord is trying to evict the upstairs tenants, who have retaliated by trying to get the building condemned.

Said tenants, who have keys to the studio to use the laundry, have also left it unlocked, with the door ajar.

Smart tenants upstairs. They can get evicted, or if they get it condemned, they can get kicked out.

So how many of the crew survived? Besides the tech guy of course.

It would be nice to mouse whisperer it out again, but it's probably going either the neck snap or electrocution route.
